Vacheron Constantin 47120 Malte Chronograph 'Clous de Paris' 18k Rose Gold Blue Hand RARE
Vacheron Constantin Malte Chronograph 'Clous de Paris' 18k Rose Gold with Blue Hand. The solid silver dial is silver-plated and superbly hand-guilloché'd with delicate radial patternwork that adds depth and catches light in a refined way. The outer chapter ring features minute markers, along with tachymeter and telemeter scales. Elegantly shaped rose-gold “épée” hands that match the warmth of the numerals and tie the visual theme together. Scratch-resistant sapphire over the dial and exhibition caseback, affixed with six screws—letting you admire the movement in action. Manual-Winding VC caliber 1141 Mechanical Movement features a straight-line lever escapement and Côtes de Genève décoration. Fitted on a Dark Brown Mississippiensis Alligator leather strap with an upgraded 18kt Rose Gold double fold-over deployant buckle.
The 41.5mm solid three-body case is crafted in 18K rose gold with fluted, fan-shaped lugs. It’s 10.9mm thick which is extremely slim for a chronograph. The dial is silver "Clous de Paris" with a fine guilloche texture and features applied rose-gold Arabic numerals at 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12; the remaining hour indices are simple dot markers, also in rose gold. Two chronograph counters—one for running seconds, one for 30 minutes—arranged symmetrically at 3 and 9 o'clock.
This Vacheron-Constantin Malte Power Reserve has a mechanical Vacheron Constantin caliber 1141 manual wind movement which is rhodium plated with fausses cotes embellishment. It's constructed with 21 jewels, a shock absorber device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It features a Beryllium balance wheel, tuned in five positions and a Breguet overcoil balance spring for better isochronism, as well as a Swan-neck micrometer regulator, allowing fine regulation for accuracy.
The Vacheron Constantin Malte Chronograph 47120/000R-9099 houses one of the most revered chronograph movements in horology, the hand-wound Caliber 1141. This caliber traces its lineage to the legendary Lemania 2310, a movement so finely conceived that it became the foundation for both Patek Philippe’s CH 27-70 (used in the celebrated Ref. 5070) and Vacheron’s own high-complication chronographs. With over 160 individual components working in perfect harmony, the 1141 is a study in mechanical artistry—column-wheel construction, a horizontal clutch system, and a swan-neck regulator for precise adjustment. Every part is decorated by hand, from the Côtes de Genève stripes on the bridges to the polished screw heads and chamfered edges, underscoring Vacheron Constantin’s uncompromising standards.
What makes this piece especially desirable is the combination of such a movement with the refined Malte case and guilloché silver dial, framed in 18k rose gold. Few manufactures still offer a pure hand-wound chronograph of this caliber, and even fewer with the provenance of the world’s oldest continuously operating watchmaker. This Vacheron Constantin Malte Chronograph 18kt Rose Gold is not just a watch—it is a mechanical sculpture that embodies rarity, sophistication, and enduring collectability.
